Technology
All students have access at least once per week for a structured lesson in the computer lab. The lab was constructed in 2008 and has 30 computers. During lessons in the lab, the students are taught specific skills relevant to their grade and skill. For the younger students the focus is on basic word processing and typing skills, along with accessing educational software. The older grades further develop word processing skills, but are also introduced to other applications such as spreadsheets, powerpoint presentations, databases and digital imaging. All students are also encouraged to access and send email through the DET student portal. This year, three Interactive Whiteboards (IWBs) were installed in the Kindergarten rooms. The 4th Kindergarten room currently has a portable IWB. By the end of 2009, we hope to have many more IWBs installed.
The school will also receive a Connected Classroom. This is a room equiped with an IWB, video conferencing equipment and television panel. A room has been sited for this and we are currently awaiting confirmation regarding installation. Once this room has been set up, the students will be able to video conference with other schools and with various educational facilities around Australia and the world. Animation Workshops On the 27th August, 30 students were involved in an animation workshop. They had a wonderful day. Check out their final productions. I'm sure you'll be impressed by their talent! Just click the play button on each screen.
